Homemade Butter-Milk Onion Rings

This is BY FAR the best onion rings I have EVER had. I found a recipe on All Recipes. I used Butter Milk instead of just regular milk and I made my own homemade bread crumbs. Just baked 6 pieces of white bread on 300 for 10 mins and processed it in my food processor after they cooled. These were so good. The 1 onion fed me, my mom, my husband and my daughter. We have a few left over so it is plenty if you get a large onion. I can honestly say these were the BEST onion rings I have EVER tasted. My husband does not like onions and he ate these. There is some work involved but its so rewarding! I hope you enjoy as much as I did!

Ingredients:

  • 1 LARGE Onion; Sliced into rings
  • 1 1/4 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Cup Butter-Milk
  • 3/4 cup Bread Crumbs
  • Quart of Frying oil; I used Canola

Directions:

  1. Slice Onions.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together. Dust onion rings and set aside.
  3. In the remaining flour add 1 egg & Butter-Milk. Mix well with fork.
  4. Dunk in onion rings. Set aside on wire rack to drain until no longer dripping.
  5. Cover with Bread Crumbs.
  6. Deep fry. Until Golden brown. 2 to 3 mins. Drain on Paper Towel.
