Baked Apple Turnover's




Ingredients:

  • 10 Granny smith apples
  • 1 Lemon Juiced
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar *plus some from sprinkling*
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn starch
  • 2 tsp cinnamon *plus some for sprinkling*
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 5 cups of water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • 1 box puff pastry, Should have two crust in the box!




Directions:

  1. Peel, Core, and Dice Apples. Toss in lemon juice.
  2. In a sauce pan add sugar, brown sugar, corn starch, cinnamon, and salt. Mix Well.
  3. Add 5 cups of water and mix well. Heat over high heat till boiling *stir constantly* let boil for 2 Min's. Remove from heat and add apples.
  4. Put back on the heat, bring to a boil, Turn heat to low and cover. Cook until apples are fork tender about 20 - 30 Min's!
  5. Let filling cool completely before forming Turnovers.
  6. Preheat oven to 400.
  7. Lay out put pastry and cut into 4's. Spoon 1-2 heaping tablespoons of the filling in the middle of each square.
  8. Fold over over diagonally and crimp edges with a fork. Cut a little vent in the top. Brush with egg wash *1 egg and 1 tablespoon milk whisked together*.
  9. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and cook for 10 - 15 Min's *May take you longer, all ovens are diff.* They should be golden brown and puffed!


***The filling can make 16 turnover's. But don't half the recipe. Make what you want. Store in a freezer bag and freeze the leftover's to use a diff time.*** Great to have on hand***
